The Top 8 Venues in Toronto For Your Winter Wedding
Winter weddings are becoming increasingly popular, and if you’re planning your winter wedding in Toronto, well you’re in luck! Toronto is home to some of the absolute best venues to host a winter wedding, and some of the best wedding photographers to capture it for you! Whether you’re looking for a historic venue with a warm and cozy vibe, an elegant ballroom to compliment your winter wedding palette, or a modern backdrop for your stylish and minimalist wedding plans, you’ll easily be able to find the perfect venue in Toronto!
I’ve collected a small list of some of my favourite winter wedding venues. This list is by no means exhaustive, but includes venues that I think are the most stylish, awesome to work with, and perfect for your winter wedding plans.
The Great Hall
The Great Hall is hands down one of my favourite wedding venues in the city. It has recently been restored to its’ former glory, and now operates as one of the coolest wedding and concert venues in downtown Toronto’s west end. It offers a variety of unconnected rooms so that your indoor winter wedding can seamlessly flow from space to space, while their awesome team flips rooms and preps each space for the next part of your big day. It has a beautiful minimalist vibe, with a touch of Victorian style architecture thrown in. The outer rooms feature high ceilings, white walls, stunning windows, and beautiful lighting. Move your wedding guests to the converted theatre room for your reception, and enjoy the cozy atmosphere in this historic concert venue. It’s already equipped with a stage for your wedding band, and an upper mezzanine for your cocktail hour. This is winter wedding venue perfection AND to top it off their team is amazing to work with!
One King West
Everyone who is planning a large winter wedding should consider One King West. This historic and striking hotel is what elegant winter wedding dreams are made of. Featuring beautiful suites for you to get ready in, stunning marble hallways and staircases for photographs, and the most picture perfect ballroom with a soaring ceiling for your reception, do yourselves a favour and tour this venue. If you love the downtown urban vibe, and want to fit in some outdoor wedding photos despite the winter chill, the surrounding block has a number of fantastic backdrops for your wedding photographs that are easy to get to and just a few quick steps from the warm indoors when you’re cold.
The AGO
The AGO is one of Toronto’s premier wedding venues for a reason. It’s amazing events team, stunning architecture, large spaces, and beautiful photo locations make it the perfect spot for any wedding, but hosting your winter wedding here will make you feel especially spoiled! The location is perfect, the photographs will turn out incredibly, the neutral space both speaks for itself AND serves as a blank canvas for you to work with. Truly, if you’re hosting a large winter wedding and love a good modern avant-garde vibe, checkout the AGO for your big day.
The Evergreen Brickworks
The Evergreen Brickworks has quickly risen through the ranks to become one of Toronto’s most sought after wedding venues. Nestled down in the valley off the Bayview Extension, this beautiful wedding venue is both nature focused and packed with awesome indoor spaces for your event. One of the best kept secrets at the moment is that they’ve recently renovated their atrium by completely closing it in with glass so that they’re now able to host winter weddings here! The space has a strong industrial vibe, warm concrete floors, and can easily fit a huge wedding reception. Get creative, make the space your own, and maybe even take a few natural and outdoor winter wedding photographs around the site and in the forest.
Omni King Edward Hotel
The Omni King Edward Hotel has been making waves in the wedding venue scene since it renovated and reopened the Crystal Ballroom. This space is to die for. With soaring ceilings, huge windows, and gorgeous chandeliers, this is the crème de la crème for elegant winter weddings. If you’re determined to avoid the cold, and never want to have to go outside for your winter wedding photographs, then this is one of the best spaces you could choose to host your big day. Everyone swoons over the photographs taken in front of their large windows, and I’m sure you’ll absolutely love them too!
The Burroughes
The Burroughes is a beautiful little industrial venue nestled on the second floor of Queen West’s shopping district. Take an elevator up and step out into industrial loft wedding heaven. The space is ideally divided into two separate rooms, meaning your guests can flow back and forth between the spaces as your wedding day moves along. Host your ceremony in one room, flow through for cocktail hour and dinner, then move back to the first room for a huge dessert buffet and dancing. The space already has a lot of personality, and only needs some greenery and lighting to really come to life. PLUS, the rooftop is open to you and has some of the best views of downtown Toronto. Head up here for a quick sunset photo session if you’re feeling brave, and spend a romantic moment soaking in the view of the city lights and hearing the party thump below you. The location is ideal for winter weddings, sitting close to a number of boutique hotels where you can get ready, it’s just a quick uber away from some fantastic locations so you’ll never have to travel far and worry about weather on your winter wedding day!
U of T
No wedding venue list would be complete without U of T. This classic and historic venue has so many amazing spaces to choose from I don’t even know where to start! Consider hosting your ceremony at Trinity Chapel, then moving to Heart House for photos and your reception. You can’t go wrong with any part of the U of T venue for your winter wedding. Around every corner you’ll find beautiful architecture, neutral tones, and dramatic light. You and your guests will never have to move far or brave the cold, and U of T is so centrally located you won’t have to worry about winter weather potentially slowing things down! If you’re envisioning a winter wedding with a cozy, warm, and inviting vibe, definitely take a look at U of T.
The Royal Conservatory
If you ever visited the Royal Conservatory of Music for piano lessons as a kid, you’ll be astounded to see the addition they designed that has turned this space into one of the most beautiful wedding venues in Toronto. It’s perfect for winter weddings, and you’ll never had to leave the building. There are a variety of ‘getting ready spaces’ both in the building and nearby, and the addition has been split into a variety of floors, creating a vertically stacked set of spaces that you and your guests will seamlessly flow through. The whole space seems to be made of glass, and creates a gorgeous modern minimalist vibe. Enjoy your warm reception sitting under a canopy of string lights, and soak in what feels like panoramic views of the winter wonderland outside. The Royal Conservatory is beyond gorgeous for any winter wedding.
