Kathleen & Erik's Outdoor Summer Golf Course Wedding at Lora Bay, Thornbury

Kathleen and Erik share a relationship that’s something out of a faiytale.  I have never seen two people more in love and excited to share the rest of their lives together than these two!  Kathleen and I have known each other since university, and I was SO excited when she reached out to me for her wedding.  We shot their engagement photographs in Collingwood last winter, and created the cutest winter engagement shoot ever.  Getting to spend a few hours seeing how these two interact and love being together made me SO excited for their upcoming wedding!

Kathleen and Erik got ready at home with family in Collingwood.  Their light, bright, and airy locations were a photographers dream to shoot in, and we got to capture some of my favourite candid getting ready photographs ever in these dream locations!  You absolutely have to at least scroll down to see photographs of Kathleen and Erik’s first look together.  You will absolutely melt at his reaction to seeing his beautiful bride for the first time!

It was a gorgeous and sunny day for a summer wedding, so we visited the Collingwood Arboretum to take photographs together in the beautiful outdoor greenery before hopping in the bus and heading to Lora Bay in Thornbury.  This epic wedding venue in Thornbury perches at the top of a golf course, overlooking an expansive view of Georgian Bay and the surrounding bluffs and ski hills.  To say this venue has the best views around is an understatement, and I always love getting to shoot here!

They got married under a beautiful floral arch, at the edge of the cliff overlooking the bay.  Their heartfelt ceremony had everyone laughing and crying at the same time, and the excited ‘just married’ photographs we captured together right after the ceremony are some of my favourite shots ever.  You can feel Kathleen and Erik’s joy absolutely radiating off of them in these photos, they’re so beautifully real, natural, and candid!

Their reception took place in the club house as the sun was setting over the bay.  The room was filled with blush toned florals, tall glass candles, and sweet little cutting boards at every seat as guest favours.  These two wanted everyone present to know how much they loved them, and their reception was the most love, laughter, and emotion filled time I’ve had the pleasure to photograph.  Highlights included when Kathleen’s university friends stood up and led the reception though a rousing rendition of some east coast ballads, and Erik’s parents presented him with the pebble that had saved since he was a child and picked it up for ‘the girl he would marry one day’.

They brought the party back out under the stars for their first dance, and passed out sparklers that guests gathered in a circle and lit to light their first dance together.  This romantic and joy filled wedding was one for the books, and is choc full of fun ideas, natural posing inspiration, and the most beautiful setting to get you inspired and excited for your own outdoor summer wedding.
