Spring Bridal Editorial Inspiration at Silver Springs Retreat, Collingwood

The Georgian Bay area has so many spectacular locations to host weddings, and Silver springs is one of many gorgeous venues to consider when planning your dream outdoor wedding.  At first sight you’ll be struck by the beautiful stonework incorporated into the old estate, the rolling fields extending off into the forest, the ponds, streams, and waterfalls crisscrossing the property, and countless other naturally beautiful scenes to wander through.  Stay a little longer to experience the summer breeze drifting through the tall grasses, or one of the stunning sunsets stretching across the property and you’ll be hooked.  Our editorial pulled strongly on the natural beauty of Silver Springs and the surrounding Georgian Bay scenery.  We wanted to incorporate the wild grasses, the rolling hills, the shining ponds, and, above all else, the mind blowing sunsets that melt across our beautiful county every evening.

We opted for a bohemian look earlier in the day, with an embroidered flowing dress and show stopping flower crown with pops of summer colour to embrace the wild ‘flower child’ bride who lives inside all of us.  For all the couples who dream of starting their wedding day with a swim in the lake, walking barefoot through the grass, and dancing the night away under stars and strings of twinkle lights, this is for you.  When creating this look, we envisioned petal strewn floral arches, frolicking in the grass, dipping our toes in the water, and sitting down to a delicious outdoor farm to table reception dinner under a breezy tent.

The second half of our editorial centered around capturing one of the incredible sunsets that the area is known for.  Silver Springs is the perfect venue for this, with the sun setting behind the mansion, spreading out across forests and fields so you can capture almost every last drop of sunlight from the day.  We wanted a bridal look that would really showcase the beauty of capturing some sunset photographs on a wedding day, so of course we opted for a long and flowing veil to capture the light.  Paired with an elegantly fitted dress and messy end-of-the-day up-do, this romantic look is what bridal dreams are made of.  Veils usually make their appearance earlier in the day at every wedding, but it’s well worth keeping yours nearby if you plan to take sunset photographs!  It’s the perfect accessory for creating those dreamy golden hour photographs you’ve been dreaming of.  Veils capture the golden glow of sunset light beautifully, blow in the breeze and wrap around you to create motion, and provide the perfect framing for a few final intimate couples portraits before heading back into your reception to get the party started.
