Morgan & Alden’s Royal Canadian Yacht Club Wedding Photographs
Morgan & Alden created a wedding day that was the definition of an elegant and classic outdoor summer garden party wedding. Combine their timeless style with their happy and relaxed personalities and this stunning wedding made my little wedding photographer heart all kinds of happy!
Hosted at the iconic Royal Canadian Yacht Club on the Toronto Islands, Morgan and Alden flew in to host their wedding in Toronto on the Canada Day long weekend. A day that meant so much to Morgan, having grown up in Toronto, as she was about to embark on a new chapter of her life living and working in the states with her handsome new groom. Bride and groom were both avid sailors, and the bride had so many happy memories at the club from her childhood, she always knew it was the place she wanted to say her wedding vows! I love when a venue holds special meaning to a couple for their wedding day!
Morgan’s classic elegant style was striking, with a soft low bun, the timeless cut of her wedding gown, a string of accent pearls, and the suede navy pumps of her dreams. What you’ll be most struck by as you scroll through these photographs however is her endlessly smiling face. She radiated joy and laughter all day, which combined with Alden’s adoring eyes and easy laugh when they were together made them an absolute dream to photograph!
Their ceremony was held on the front lawn of the club, overlooking the Iconic Toronto skyline Morgan loves so much, with the club’s sailboats and ferry dotting the background. The bride and groom beamed at each other the whole way through, cried, laughed, shared heartfelt vows, and the sun had perfect timing as it came out from behind the clouds for their first kiss. One of my favorite things to photograph on a wedding day are the candid reactions of the family, friends, and loved ones throughout the ceremony, and this family allowed me to capture so many beautiful moments! My favourite wedding photograph of the day is the groom’s father giving Morgan a thumbs up as she walked down the aisle with her own father. Can you see it?
After the ceremony we took photographs with their family and wedding party before returning the bride and groom to their cocktail hour with time for a drink, a snack, and to mingle with their guests. It’s worth scrolling down through their wedding party photographs, most of which are natural, candid, and full of laughter (my usual style), to one of my favourite ‘vogue posed’ wedding party photographs after. This shot was specially requested, and the wedding party absolutely nailed their posing and commitment to the shot!
As always though, the best and most meaningful wedding photographs of the day come after the formal photographs are done. The gallery really comes to life once the bride and groom get to re-join their guests, mingle and have fun during cocktail hour, and sit down to enjoy their gorgeous (and delicious) reception in the RCYC’s stunning domed reception hall. Make sure you scroll all the way to the bottom to see their collection of candid reception photographs. The night was filled with laughter, tears, heartfelt words, embarrassing stories, bear hugs, and countless joyful toasts.
To end the evening, the bride and groom snuck outside with me at sunset for some truly jaw-dropping sunset photographs on the dock. They danced, laughed, posed for passing boats honking congratulations at them, and spent some quiet quality time together on their wedding day, watching the sun go down over the skyline of the city that holds a place in Morgan’s heart. The Toronto skyline lit up behind them as they returned to their reception, ready to dance and party the night away with the people they love the most.
